Grad school has truly and completely eaten my life. I haven't been able to post in forever (obviously) and am incredibly behind on seeing what you other lovely ladies are up to....I miss it!

I'll do my best to be back here as much as I can, but oh my goodness, I don't even know what free time is any more! Can't complain, though, I am so happy to be doing what I love and learning so much along the way.

Hope you're all doing well, and having a good start to your week!

I wanted to say a quick "thank you" to the internet today, and primarily to the style blogging community out there.

Overall, I have been AMAZED at the kindness, love, and support that flows through the style blogosphere; I have met some truly lovely women whom I greatly admire, and I completely enjoy making those connections. We all know that the internet (and, obviously the world), is full of not-so-nice people, but what this community has taught me is that it is even more full of kind, creative, and loving people, from whom I draw endless inspiration and support.

So, that's all to say a great big "thank you" to those of you who follow, comment, or just stop by for .01 seconds, and to those of you who put yourselves out there on your blogs every day and face the big scary Internet with humor and grace. You all inspire me to do it, too.

Hope your week is going well, and thanks, as always, for stopping by. :)

Well, my first two weeks of grad school are over, and I'm (almost) all moved in to my new place! What a crazy past few weeks it has been!

I'm learning a new language (German), continuing with a slightly older one (Hebrew), taking two other fantastically interesting classes, getting trained for my new job, finding furniture for the new house, and getting into the groove of grad school life in general. So far, so good! Lots of studying in coffee shops and spending time outside, soaking up the last, gorgeous rays of late summer.

Hope you have all had a great week! And happy (almost) Friday!

Blogging on a Budget: August

School has started! Fall is here! My cousin got married this weekend and it was beautiful! (and I took a much-needed trip back to California to be there!) I have a million German words to memorize! August is over, and I hadn't posted Blogging on a Budget yet!

Here is my monthly round-up of where I spent my money, August Edition.

This past month, I spent:
helped along with an old gift certificate)
$0 on hair
$0 on makeup
$0 on jewelry

I have a feeling now that fall is here, I'll be spending a lot more on clothing. This CA girl doesn't have any winter boots to speak of! And on that subject, anyone have recommendations for uber-warm but still cute snow/winter boots?

Right Around the Corner

Today was my favorite day (weather-wise) that I've had in New England as of yet. In the morning it was all blustery winds and bright blue skies, fading in the afternoon to a perfect 75 degrees with a light breeze and warm sunshine. It was the best combination of fall-is-just-around-the-corner and I-don't-want-to-leave-summer-quite-yet. I spent a good chunk of my downtime today (all of it, really) sitting in the sunshine and reading The Sun Also Rises.

Perfect weather, really, for what I was doing the rest of the day, which was Orientation! My program starts classes next week, so this week it's all meeting advisers, signing up for classes, figuring out study cards, and meeting new people. I am so excited to be back in school again, and cannot wait for it to start! Before classes, however, I've got to tackle a big move this weekend into my new/permanent apartment, though it can't be as bad as the Bigger Move across the country, right? :)

In the meantime, I'm going to go enjoy a bit more of this late-summer sunshine. I think I need to store up on it in order to have any chance at getting through my first New England winter.

Hope you are all having a great week!

Blogging on a Budget: July

One of my favorite things to see when perusing blogs is how people allocate their money; where they save, where they splurge, what sales they look for, and what they value. It taps into the same peek-inside-someone's-life part of me that absolutely loves seeing inside other people's closets, and of course, other people's blogs in general. (If you are like-minded, I highly recommend immediately checking out ClosetVisit.com to see inside some stylish closets kept by even more stylish ladies.)

In that vein, and in hope of keeping myself both frugal and honest, I've been blogging my monthly spending for the past few months. So!

Here is my breakdown for the month of July. Last month, I spent:

$76.45 on clothes
-ASOS skater dress (buy here, restocked in all sizes)
-a pair of comfy Croc flats (buy here)
  $0 on hair
$0 on makeup
$0 on jewelry

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

In Pause

Please excuse a small pause as I study my butt off for the next few days in preparation for a big final! I've been taking an intensive language course for these past 8 weeks (two semesters of Biblical Hebrew in 2 months) as the first course in my Masters' program. Now just the final stands between me and two weeks of summer break.

So I'll be absent for a few days more, and then back, refreshed and (hopefully!) victorious. :)

Wish me luck!
